Tomboy Abby is a zoo worker and a reptile fanatic, which comes in useful when she comes into contact with 20-foot creatures from the prehistoric past.
She has had a love affair with animals since a childhood trip to the Galapagos Islands and mostly prefers reptiles to people - though she has developed a soft spot for fellow dinosaur hunter, Stephen.
Following the revelations at the end of series 1 though, have her feelings changed?
The one person who really fancies her is geeky Connor Temple, but it remains to be seen whether she will return his affections. Men are not high on Abby’s agenda though. Her mind is firmly focussed on monster management.
Before starring in the first series of Primeval, Hannah, 26, was better known for singing rather than acting. She was one-seventh of sparky teenage pop outfit S Club 7 (alongside Celebrity Big Brother villain Jo O'Meara) until the group disbanded in 2003.
Since then she has followed in Billie Piper's footsteps by switching from pop to the small-screen, appearing in films like Seed of Chucky and Agent Cody Banks 2, though she did appear in short-lived West End musical, Snow. Despite the similarities, she doesn't mind being compared to Billie: "If comparisons are going to be made, that's certainly one I wouldn't discourage!"
